Thallassery is one of the oldest British settlements in India. This historic town is located 21 km from Kannur in north Kerala. Blessed with abundant natural beauty, the place comprises of many beautiful small hills, rivers and a number of breathtaking cliffs along with an amazing long coastline. British entered in Thalassery in 1682 with an aim of establishing their trading facilities. They exported spices such as cardamom, pepper, cinnamon to various European countries using Thalassery port. In 1708, British East India Company was established in Thalassery and Tellicherry Fort was built on a beautiful rocky cliff. Thalassery port was considered as a significant part for trading and military purposes during British Raj. Mahe River which runs across Thalassery was named as English Channel by the British as it separates the British territory from the French ruled territory. Odathil Palli is the oldest mosques build in 1806 by Moosakaka, a British loyalist. There are various places for amusement and entertainment. It is an ideal place for walking and relaxing. Colonel Arthur Wellesley introduced cricket at Thalassery in 1800. Thalassery has the privilege of playing cricket legendary Collin Crowdey in their team during British rule.

Thalassery is a commercial town in the Malabar Coast of Northern Kerala, (Kannur district).Nestled beautifully on the Malabar Coast in the state of Kerala, Thalassery is an astonishing place to spend the vacations near the seashore. It is the second largest cities of North Malabar in terms of population and also known as Tellicherry. Thalassery is deeply associated with 3 C’s, which signifies cricket, circus and cakes. The city is very prominent in the field of bakery and expert bakers from Thalassery have been settled in various parts of the country. The large number of bakeries in the city gives an indication to Thalassery’s keenness for cakes. Thalassery Travel Guide is incomplete without a mention of Sree Rama Swami Temple, Jagannath Temple, Thalassery Fort, Catholic Rosary Church, Muzhappilangad Beach and Overbury’s Folly which serves as the major tourist attractions of the city.

Taxi Services are available from the airport to Thalassery costing about Rs 2,000.
By Train : Thalassery railway station is well connected to all major cities in India and regular direct train services are available from Thalassery to Kozhikode, Kannur, Trivandrum, Kochi, Chennai and Bangalore.
