Taldykorgan formerly known as Taldy-Kurgan is the administrative center of Almaty Province, Kazakhstan. It has a population of 118,400 (2003). Most of the people are Kazakhs.Taldykorgan has a diverse educational system, including a university, institutes, institutions, technical training colleges. There are 27 public health facilities, a theater, amusement parks, libraries, a city cinema, stadium, sports complex and swimming pools.
Taldykorgan has an airport that services a number Kazakh and Russian cities, while its train station services Central Kazakhstan, Central Asia, Russia, Baltic States and the People’s Republic of China.
