Taiz, described as one of the largest and most beautiful cities by the renowned Arab Traveler Ibn Batouta is dotted with several landmarks and monuments. The city is home to several white mosques, schools and castle. Al-Qaherah Castle is one of the most important historical landmarks in Taiz. The ancient castle was built during the reign of Ottomans.
AL- Janad Mosque located at a distance of about 20 km from the city is one of the greatest and oldest mosques in the country. Located in Al-Janad Plain, the mosque was built by Mu’adh Bin Jabal in the year 630 AD. Al Ashrafeyah School along with Al Modhafar Mosque and Al Mu’tabiya Dome are some of the must visit places in Taiz. Besides this, Makha, Jebel Saber, Youfris and Weekly Souks are some of the major tourist attractions in Taiz.
