The town of Tabo is located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, in the Spiti valley. This town is located at an altitude of 3050 metres, and it is a major tourist stronghold. The Spiti valley is one of the least explored valleys in Himachal Pradesh, and adventure buffs will love travelling to the town of Tabo because of its serene and secluded nature. Tabo is the right tourist destination to go for, if you’re looking for a place that is not infested with tourists and is moderately populated and peaceful. The town has also been built around a very old Buddhist monastery, which serves as the centre of the town. While in the town of Tabo, you can visit the Temple of Enlightened Gods, which is also known among locals as Tug Lha Khang. This is the chief temple in the entire complex and houses an enormous assembly hall, a sanctum and a vestibula. Buddhist monasteries in the Spiti valley are all exquisitely constructed, and architecture buffs among you will love visiting these places. The temple’s sanctum houses five Bodhisattvas, and the centre of the temple has a large figure of Vairocana, who is regarded as one of Adhibuddha’s five sons.

Tabo is a small town in the Lahaul and Spiti district on the banks of the Spiti River in Himachal Pradesh, India. The town lies on the road between Rekong Peo and Kaza, the sub-divisional headquarters of Spiti.

By Air : Flights are an easy way to travel to the town of Tabo, and flights can be taken to the nearest airport, which is at Kullu. The airport at Kullu lies at a distance 294 kilometres from Tabo, and travelling from the airport to Tabo will take around nine hours. Taxis will be available from Kullu Airport to Tabo, and these will charge fares of around Rs 11,500. Local flight travel will cost around Rs 3500 to 5000.

By Train : Trains can be taken to the nearest railway station at Kalka, which is located at a distance of 452 kilometres away from Tabo. Trains to Kalka will be available from New Delhi, Barmer, Bandra, Amritsar and Hazrat Nizammudin. Train charges will range around Rs 250 to 600 depending on the distance covered.

By Bus : It is a 115 km journey from Manali which takes six hours. Another option is to take bus from Shimla via Kinnaur to Kaza. The route from Shimla to Kaza remains open from May to October and is about 412 km long. Buses and taxis are available from Kaza to reach Tabo.
