The park Service is proposing to exchange the Swikshak patrol cabin on the coast of Katmai park. The project is required to alter the NPS to safeguard and manage the in depth Katmai coast throughout the summer months once visitation is at its highest levels, and supply park workers a secure and sturdy hard-sided shelter for cover against inclement weather and occasional undesirable life encounters. The cabin is found among the Katmai geographic region.
An environmental assessment (EA) was developed to investigate impacts of the planned action and a No Action various. If approved and funded, project may begin as early as this summer field season 2010.
