The Swiftcurrent automotive vehicle Camp Historic District preserves some of the settled space of ice mass parkland that documents the second part of traveler development within the park. When the creation of a series of hotels for train-borne guests as well as the near several ice mass building, courtesy of the nice Northern Railway’s building concession, facilities were developed for the increasing numbers of automobile-borne tourists, drawn to ice mass by the Going-to-the-Sun Road.
The Swiftcurrent automotive vehicle Camp at Swiftcurrent Lake was created for these new tourists. It includes a country country store, inbuilt 1935 by the ice mass Park building Company, enclosed by variety of log traveler cabins., still as a shower and laundry house and other supporting structures. In distinction to the outstanding website of the near several ice mass building, the automotive vehicle camp is found in stands of mature trees that block direct views of the encircling mountains.
The facilities were meant to produce a reasonable, informal different to the hotels that had as yet provided the majority of traveler accommodations. The camp was built by the Glacier Park Hotel Company, harassed from the parkland Service to produce such accommodations.
