The Sunshine Bridge could be a span over the river in St. James Parish, Louisiana. Completed in 1963, it carries LA seventy, that connects Donaldsonville on the geographic area of Ascension Parish with Sorrento on the east bank of Ascension Parish yet like Gonzales on the east bank of Ascension Parish. The approach roads on the east and west banks begin in Ascension Parish before crossing into St. James Parish.
The bridge could be a convenient stream crossing for residents of Baton Rouge, Hammond, and therefore the Everglade State Parishes to jaunt the lake cities of Houma and Thibodaux yet as contrariwise. The bridge plays a crucial role in storm evacuation and in industrial development on the Mississippi.
From its gap in 1964 through August 15, 2001, a 50-cent toll was collected on traffic crossing to the geographic area. The toll was out of print by associate act of the LA law-makers, authored by LA State Representative Roy Quezaire (D-Donaldsonville), whose district includes the bridge.
