Suffern may be a village within the city of Ramapo, Rockland County, New York, u. s. situated north of the State of recent Jersey; east of Hillburn; south of Montebello and west of Airmont. “The purpose of the Mountains” or “Sidman’s Clove” were names employed in designating this village of Suffern before the Revolution. Originally occupied by the Ramapough (Monsey (Minsi)) Indians, World Health Organization were a division of the good Delaware or Lenape Indian Nation, upon Sidman’s death this land passed into the hands of his in-law, John Smith, World Health Organization oversubscribed it to John Suffern.
