Detail InformationEdit
The name Weigersdorf first appeared in historical documents in the 12th century; the Church was consecrated in the year 1162.
Around 1437 the construction of the Presbytery was launched under Abbot Ulrich. The building was completed and consecrated in August 1476 by Suffragan Bishop Albert of Passau. The Subsidiary Church at Weigersdorf is a superb example of late Gothic architecture. The altars and the chancel were added during the Baroque era. The Church features three altars. The high altar is dedicated to the Saint Martyrs Oswald, John and Paul. One side altar is devoted to Saint Wolfgang, Saint Leonard and Saint Hieronimus while the second altar is dedicated to the Saint Martyrs Sebastian, Panataleon and Achatius. What´s more, the Gothic Church is adorned with a variety of statues of saints.
