Stupa No. 2, stupa has no gateways and there are lot of decorations and carvings on circumvents. Some of the carvings depict figures with fish tail (makaras) and elephant heads, birds with human heads (kinnara), yaksha and yakshi (male and female nature spirits) and figures of snakes (naga). This structure is the home to the vestiges of Kasyapagotra and Suvijayita, the two great Buddhist gurus. Marshall mentions that it was first opened in destroyed by Captain Johnson in 1822. He further writes, in rather curt manner, that the remaining possible destruction was caused by Cunningham during his digging in 1851 however the latter was able to retrieve the relic box. Stupa number 2 is characterized by the striking stone railings that surrounds it. Built in the 2nd century BC, this stupa is placed on an artificial podium and it lies beneath all the other stupas. Except its stone fencing this stupa do not have gateways like the other ones. But one can see intricate and exquisite carvings and other decorations on these hedges.
