Detail InformationEdit
The Steinhaus Castle you see today is mainly of the 17th century but first appeared in historical documents in the year 1249. The plan of the two-storied building is that of a ´horseshow´. Since 1693 the Castle has been owned by the Eiselsberg Family.
Anton Freiherr of Eiselsberg was born on the Castle in 1860. He became a famous surgeon of worldwide reputation who never forgot about his roots and spent all his holidays in Steinhaus. His son, ambassador Dr. Otto Eiselsberg, lived on the Castle until he died in 2001 and was laid to rest next to his father in the Eiselsberg Family tomb at Steinhaus.
