The bridge is part of today´s Brenner federal road and was built from 1836 until 1845. It is 43m long and 36m tall. Built with ashlars from the Hötting breccia. The bridge was named after Archduke Stefan who inaugurated the largest stone-arched bridge in Austria which is now listed.
