Detail InformationEdit

The foundation of the Parish Church dates back to the 7th and 9th centuries, when it probably was established from a Rupertus apostle´s mission. The original church was a wooden structure that was replaced by a Romanesque stone building in the 12th century. Within later refurbishments, the Romanesque forms were substituted for old-style German pointed arch architecture.
In 1685, a side Chapel with a small entrance hall was added. A pointed arch roof bell tower was erected on the southern facade. In 1853 the tower was roofed by a lantern cupola that was devastated by a storm in 1929 and rebuilt in 1931.
In the year 1780, the Gothic-style ribs of the vaults and the window ornaments were removed. The altars, dedicated to Saint Michael, Saint Florinus, Saint Jacob, Saint Wolfgang and Virgin Mary, were removed as well and replaced by four new ones in Renaissance style. In 1882, two of these four altars were taken away to extend the pews.
All sculptor work was done by Schwanthaler Johann Peter the Older. In 1772, Schwanthaler, Diez and Strobl worked together to create a new high altar. This altar was remodeled by Andreas Strickner from Linz in 1916.
