This is the place, where once the oldest parish church of Mödling – St. Martin´s church – was erected and where the oldest parish of Lower Austria once was. Mödling was first mentioned at the beginning of the 10th century and St. Martin´s Church was first mentioned in a document from 1113 when it was owned by the Abbey of Melk.
In 1787 the church was destroyed and only the crypt remained until today.
In 1974 a Romanesque font was discovered.
Around 100 years after the destruction of St. Martin´s church the church you can see today was built.
