St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church was the primary church for African Americans in Nebraska, organized in North Omaha in 1867. It’s situated at 2402 North twenty second Street within the close to side neighborhood.The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The building was made within the center of Omaha’s side within the grassland faculty design vogue. Grassland faculty design is rare, and this discipline gem in urban Nebraska is especially uncommon for being designed and inbuilt the Nineteen Twenties, when the grassland Style’s speedy loss of recognition starting when 1914.
Located at 2402 North twenty second Street in Omaha, St. John A.M.E. Church was designed by native creator town S. Stott in 1921 within the grassland faculty vogue.
