St. George’s United Methodist Church, settled at the corner of fourth and New Streets, in City of Brotherly Love, is that the oldest Methodist Church worship in continuous use within the u. S.. Richard Allen and Absalom Jones became the primary African Americans ordained by the Methodist Church. They were accredited by St. George’s Church in 1784. 3 years later, complaining segregation within the worship services, Allen crystal rectifier most of the black members out of St. George’s; eventually they based the Mother house of God A.M.E. Church and also the African Methodist Episcopal denomination. Absalom Jones became associate Episcopal priest.
