Srikalahasti temple, also known as the Srikalahastisvara Swamy temple, is a prominent temple in the Srikalahasti town of Andhra Pradesh. This temple is carved out of the side of a big stone hill and has a 120 ft high ancient gopuram. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is the same site where Kannappa, one of the 63 Shaivite Nayanars, was ready to offer his eyes for covering the blood flowing from the Shiva Linga. The only Vayu Deva temple in India, dedicated to the God of Wind, is also situated within the complex. This temple has an idol of Vayu Dev and Lord Shiva who is worshipped here as Kalahasteeswara. It also has idols of Rahu and Kethu, the two out of nine grahams or celestial bodies. Sri Kalahasteeswara Swamy Temple is well reputed as the Rahu-Kethu Kshetram. Rahu Kethu Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Puja is performed in this temple. Devotees who have Rahu-Ketu Doshas, Sarpa Doshas and other problems in their life’s shall perform Pooja named as “Rahu-Ketu Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Puja” in Sri Kalahasteeswara Swamy Temple.

Sri Kalahasti temple, is famous for its Vayu linga, one of the Panchabhoota Sthalams, representing wind. The inner temple was constructed around 5th century and the outer temple was constructed in the 12th century by the Chola kings and the Vijayanagara kings. Vayu is incarnated as Lord Shiva and worshiped as Kalahasteeswara. The Srikalahasti main temple was renovated during the 12th century by Rajendra Chola, the famous Chola King.
