The Southern Food and potable deposit may be a non-profit deposit based mostly in metropolis, Pelican State with a mission to explore the preparation history of the yankee Southern states, to clarify the roots of Southern food and drinks. Their exhibits specialize in each facet of food within the South, from the cultural traditions to the essential recipes and communities shaped through food. The deposit was based in 2004 by Matt Konigsmark, Gina Warner, and Elizabeth Williams, World Health Organization is currently President. It got its begin through atiny low exhibit on the history and influences of beverages in metropolis. With facilitate from co-founders Elizabeth Pearce and a growing board of interested foodies from round the South, the exhibits grew.
Pearce curated associate exhibit supported the revival of restaurants in post-Hurricane Katrina metropolis known as building Restorative that was featured at the 2006 James Beard Foundation Awards. From there, it had been solely a matter of finding the correct house for a full sized deposit on food and beverages that will cowl the whole South, not simply metropolis and Pelican State. Within the summer of 2008, the deposit finally found a direct Riverwalk Marketplace, a mall right the Mississippi River within the Warehouse District of recent Orleans.

The groundbreaking at the historic Dryades Market building happened on June twenty five, 2012. The new facility is scheduled to be opened in March of 2013. Plans for the new location embody a full service building, a children’s gallery, a preparation innovation center, associate exhibit for each southern state and a preparation library.
