South Portland may be a town in Cumberland County, Maine, us, and is that the fourth-largest town within the state. Far-famed for its operating city district, South Portland is located on Portland Harbor and overlooks the skyline of Portland and therefore the islands of Casco Bay. Attributable to South Portland’s shut proximity to air, marine, and road transportation choices, the town has become a middle for retail and business within the region. South Portland was 1st settled in 1630, and it grew to become atiny low residential community with several farms. In 1858, the town of Portland purchased land close to the Fore watercourse for the Forest town memorial park. On March fifteen, 1895, it had been incorporated as a city once it stony-broke aloof from Cape Elizabeth, supported a disagreement on a future supply of public water. 3 years later South Portland became a town, destined to receive its water, like Portland, from Sebago Lake, whereas Cape Elizabeth used Wells or alternative native sources.
