South purpose may be a a part of the Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY-OH, Metropolitan applied mathematics space (MSA). As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 288,649. The village city manager is Ron West. Erstwhile the president of the village council, West became city manager upon the death of Bob Armstrong, the previous city manager.
