Skokie is a village in Cook County, Illinois, u. s.. Its name comes from a Native American word for “fire”. A Chicago community, for several years Skokie promoted itself as “The World’s Largest Village”. Sharing a border with the town of Chicago, Skokie’s streets, like that of the many suburbs, area unit mostly a continuation of the Chicago street grid, and it is serviceable by the Chicago Transit Authority, any cementing its association to the town.
