The Sixenhof was first mentioned in a document in 1361. After an arson attack in 1810 the building was restored into what it is today.
The Sixenhof´s 19 rooms provide a good overview of the life an work in the past. On view of farming and crafting tools, a blacksmithy, a cobblery, a weavery, as well as hunting and fishing equipment. The Achental region has always been rich in forests and wildlife attracting hunting and fishing guests from near and far.
The Achental is one of Tirol´s most traditional summer holiday regions. The pleasure boats and steam train have been transporting guests from all over the globe for over 100 years now.
The old “Sixen” family who ran the farm on the northern shores of Lake Achensee owned some 25 cows, a few horses, pigs, sheeps, chickens, 11ha of fields, 54 ha of forests and a pastures with grazing rights. With this the family of 10 made their living.
