Sitharal Jain Monuments are located in a small hamlet 7km from Marthandam and 55km from Kanyakumari. Originally known as Thiruchiranathupalli, this is an old settlement dating back to the 9th century AD that belonged to Jain monks of the Digambara sect. The spread of the Jain religion in these parts is believed to have taken place during the rule of the Jain King Mahendra Verman from 610-640 AD. Located on a small hillock is a cave with rock cut sculptures of the Jain Thirthankaras and attendant deities. The Archaeological Survey of India has preserved the images in the Jain temple.

People come here to see the mesmerizing images of this temple which is preserved by Archaeological Survey Of India. A lot of visitors come here to honor their gods. Located on small hillock it gives a pleasant and serene weather which attracts a lot of tourists. In this hillock there is a sculpture of the Jain Thirthankaras.The Chitharal Jain Monuments belonging to the Digambara sect with cave temples and rock-cut sculptures of Thirthankaras is located 7 km from Marthandam and 25 kms from Thirparappu.

BUS : From Thirvananthapuram (or Kovalam Beach) or take one of the daily Kanyakumari tours organised by KTDC (Kerala Tourism Development Corporation). Frequent buses run from Thiruvananthapuram’s Thampanoor bus stand for Padmanabhampuram, on the highway to Kanyakumari. Best way is to board any bus for Nagercoil or Kanyakumari and alight at Thuckalay. You could also hire a cab from Thiruvananthapuram.
