Silchar is located in the Indian state of Assam. This town is located in the Cachhar district. Silchar is a very attractive destination in the region, and the town is inhabited by Bengalis. The town lies in the Surma valley region, and it is an extremely picturesque destination. There are many tourist attractions in the town of Silchar that you can visit during your trip to the region, and the Sri Sri Kancha Kanti Devi temple is one of these. This temple is located at a distance of seventeen kilometers away from the town. You can also visit the town of Khaspur, which is located near Silchar. This town houses a huge ancient palace that lies in ruins today. The gateways to this ancient capital city still stand tall, though, and architecture buffs are bound to love this place. The Bhubaneshwar Temple, located in Bhuban hill, is yet another famous destination near Silchar. This temple is located at a distance of thirty seven kilometers from the town of Silchar, and regular buses will be available. You can also visit Maniharan Tunnel, which is a popular hotspot among tourists near Silchar. This tunnel is rumored to have been used by Lord Krishna once, and the place has enormous religious significance for this reason. The temple complex located here is famous among pilgrims.

By Air : Flights can be taken directly to the town of Silchar, as the town has an airport of its own. There are regular flights from the airport in the town of Silchar to the cities of Guwahati, Tezpur and Kolkata. By BUS : Buses to the town of Silchar will be readily available from all the nearby regions including Guwahati, Tezpur and Tinsukia. Fares from the city of Guwahati to the town of Silchar will cost around Rs 360 to Rs 380. Many buses will run through this route, and both deluxe buses and semi deluxe buses will be available. Most local buses in Assam are operated under the government, and travelling through these can get quite hard if you’re not used to long distance bus travel.
