The Sheldon hall in St. Louis, Missouri was designed by noted 1904 World’s honest designer Louis C. Spiering and in-built 1912 because the home of the moral Society of St. Louis. Musicians and public speakers throughout the years have enjoyed the proper acoustics of the Sheldon hall, earning The Sheldon its name as “The Carnegie Hall of St. Louis”. Well-known singers and ensembles have performed at The Sheldon, and speakers like physicist, President and author have spoken from its stage. The St. Louis Chapter of the League of ladies Voters was supported within the Sheldon’s inexperienced space.
When the moral Society resettled to St. Louis County in 1964, The Sheldon became primarily a music venue. Then, in 1974, a former singer with the jazz musician Orchestra purchased the ability, remodeling The Sheldon into a church and therefore the website for several jazz and gospel concerts. A Golden State professional person with a love for classical music purchased the building in 1984 at the urging of the Paganini quartet. He engaged conductor F. Gunn to revive the building and upon completion Gunn began operative The Sheldon in 1986 as a venue for concerts and community events.
