The population was 634 at the 2010 census, down from 705 at the 2000 census. Shaver Lake is on the southeast finish of the lake of constant name, ten miles (16 km) northeast of recent Auberry, at associate elevation of 5627 feet (1715 m). The name honors C.B. Shaver, founding father of the city Flume and Irrigation Company that engineered the dam, making the lake. The lake served as a mill lake for the Shaver Sawmill and therefore the supply for a flume that ran to forty two miles to Frank, CA. The initial city of Shaver was buried underneath the lake once the Thomas A. Inventor Company purchased and enlarged the lake in 1919.
