Detail InformationEdit
The Shahid Abbaspour Dam may be a giant arch dam providing electricity from the Karun River; it’s settled regarding fifty kilometres (31 mi) northeast of Masjed Soleiman, within the province of Khuzestan, Iran, and originally completed in 1976, and once named “Reza monarch Kabir Dam”. The dam was the primary of a series of dams planned for development on the Karun watercourse.
The dam may be a double-curvature concrete arch sort, two hundred m (660 ft) high from the inspiration rock. Its crest breadth is vi m (20 ft). The arch dam style was chosen for the slender, rocky gorge wherever it’s settled. The double-curvature arch style withstands the pressure created by the reservoir with a minimum of concrete, as a result of the form transmits the force of the reservoir downward and laterally, against the rock foundation; this has the impact of strengthening the dam concrete and its foundation by keeping it in compression.
