A group of 115 islands of which only a few are inhabited, Seychelles is located off the coast of East Africa to the northeast of Madagascar. Largely disputed between France and the British during the colonial era, Seychelles finally attained independence in 1976. Offering numerous pristine beaches, untouched by man and refreshingly un-crowded, Seychelles is a rare tranquil tourist paradise where temperatures rarely vary and never exceed 31 degrees Celsius. Tourism, which is the main economic contributor of Seychelles has also effectively led growth for the last few decades.
Apart from water related sports like wind-surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, yachting and fishing, other Seychelles tourist activities include hiking, biking, golf, tennis, squash and horseback riding. Displaying a popular nightlife mostly around the capital city of Victoria, Seychelles features numerous markets, art galleries and shops specially catering to visitor’s requirements.
