Detail InformationEdit

The legislator Henry Martyn Robert D. Fleming Bridge, ordinarily referred to as the 62nd Street Bridge, could be a bridge that carries PA Route eight across the river between the Pittsburgh neighborhood of feminist Heights and therefore the suburban area of Sharpsburg. The river was initial crossed at this time by a wood bridge, in-built 1856. This was replaced by the Sharpsburg Bridge in 1901, that was itself replaced in 1962, because it was deemed too slender for the traffic volume that it carried.
The current bridge was completed on July 1, 1962 and is called for Henry Martyn Robert D. Fleming, a former Republican Pennsylvania senator whose district featured parts of Pittsburgh’s northeastern suburbs. It had been engineered aboard and simply upstream from the recent bridge and consists of sixteen individual spans, together with a one,054 feet (321 m) long four span truss channel unit, with a four hundred feet (120 m) span over the watercourse and a 494 feet (151 m) 3 span beam section with a 227 feet (69 m) central span over the railroad.
A two hundred feet (61 m) section of the bridge buckled once the Crescent provide Co. Warehouse below it had been destroyed by hearth on might twenty eight, 1981. The bridge was finally reopened in January 1983.
