The castle, situated next to the church on the Burgberg hill, is a joint defense line with the church. The castle has evolved out of the prior knight’s castle in the course of the 16th century. In 1725, it has been completed rebuilt by Achaz von Ehrenreich.
Schloss Gobelsburg has always had a proper wine cellar, even at times where the wine growers’ traditionally gathered in the cellar lanes close to their vineyards. The oldest part has been digged 10m into the cool loess ground and is made up of the wooden barrel cellar as well as the wine shop.
From the beginning of May till the end of October, the inner courtyard is at your disposal for enjoying light snacks and delicious wines. Friday – Sunday and bank holidays from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
