The ruins of Schachenstein Castle lie in Thörl on the Thörlbach stream north of Bruck an der Mur in Styria, Austria, at an elevation of about 640 m AA.
Schachenstein Castle was the last hill castle in Styria. It was built in 1464 by the abbot John II Schachner of Lambrecht as a summer residence and manor house, and originally served to guard the road. The castle was extended in 1630 and 1740. From the end of the 18th century the castle lost its significance and fell into ruins.
