The Scalplock Mountain fireplace Lookout in ice mass park is important united of a series of manned fireplace lookout posts among the park. The low two-story timber-construction structure with a pointed roof was inbuilt 1931.The lookout affords views into the Park Creek natural depression and also the Middle Fork of the Flathead watercourse, that was traversed by the good Northern Railway (U.S.) and US 2, prolific sources of fires. The lookout was designed to plain plans derived from U.S. Forest Service plans.
