Sawai Madhopur is a city that is located in the state of in the Sawai Madhopur district. The area is the home of the famous and also the Ranthambhor Fortress. The fortress is located inside the boundaries of the park itself and it is an important tourist destination in the state. The city was developed in the mid 18th century by an emperor called Sawai Madhopur. The city is also well known for its guavas. The Ranthambhor Park is one of the tiger reserves in the country and it is located around 11 km from the city itself. The park is home to many species of animals and some of them that can be seen in the area are tigers, nilgais, leopards, chitals, sloth bears and many other species. Safaris rides are also available in the park and they last for around three hours each. The fortress located inside the park was built in the 10th century, and is a majestic piece of architecture. There are a few places that one can visit in and around the city and the most visited among them are, Karauli, Trinetra Ganesh Temple, Sri Mahaveerji Temple, Siwad, Amareshwar Mahadeo, Chauth Mata Temple and a few other places.

By Air : The closest airport is located at Jaipur which is around 180 km away from the city. The airport is well connected to most of the cities around the country and there are frequent flights from many of the important cities in the country. If you are planning to travel by air, then this is the best option. A few international flights operate to the airport as well. Taxis are available from the airport to the city and they cost around Rs 7 per km and are comfortable.
By Train : The city has a railway station that is located along the Delhi to Mumbai line and there are many trains that pass through the station. This is the best option to reach the place as trains are comfortable. Ticket prices are affordable as well. Tickets from Jaipur cost around Rs 150 for second class sleeper compartments. However they might have to be booked well in advance.
By BUS : The city is well connected to most parts of the state by state run buses and this is the cheapest option that is available. Buses from Jaipur are frequent and tickets cost around Rs 100.
By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.
