San Nicolaas is nineteen kilometres (12miles) southeast of Oranjestad, and is Aruba second largest town. Called the island Sunrise facet, San Nicolaas was once a active company city, once Lago Oil and Transport operated its refinery from 1924-1985.San Nicolaas was named when a Mr. Nicolas van der Biest (1808-1873), United Nations agency in hand a giant piece of the land there.Close to San Nicolaas, a Dutch marine camp is off Commanders Bay close to the fishing village of Savaneta.A section of San Nicolaas\’ main street has been reborn to a picturesque promenade with outlets containing souvenirs, crafts and native snacks. In close Seroe Colorado, there’s alittle natural bridge, to not be confused with the bridge at Andicuri.
