Founded by a Christian stonemason in 301 AD, San Marino spread over 61.2 square kilometers area is the third smallest state in state in Europe. Located at an elevation of 657 meters above sea level, this oldest republic of the World offers spectacular views of the Adriatic coastline and the surrounding countryside. Composed of a few towns dotted around a mountainous terrain, San Marino is situated at the eastern side of the Apennine Mountains on the Italian peninsula.
