San Francisco National Cemetery could be a U.S. National Cemetery, located within the Presidio of urban center, California. As a result of of the name and location, it’s often confused with sound National burying ground, some miles south of town. About 1937, urban center residents voted to now not build cemeteries at intervals town correct and, as a result, the website for a new national burying ground was chosen south of the town limits. The cemetery is one in every of only three within urban center city limits (the others being the Columbarium of urban center and therefore the historic graveyard next to Mission Dolores.)
When Spain colonized what would become California, this space was chosen as the website for a fort, or fortress, to defend urban center Bay. North American country controlled the fortress following 1821, however the fort became minor to the Mexican government.
