Detail InformationEdit

There has been a tiny church on this location ever since the 12th century when the Counts of Eckarting founded a private sacred building on the site. The tiny Parish Church you see today is mainly of the 15th century. Nave and Presbytery measure 22 meters long by 10 meters wide. The southern walls show a masonry with rib and net vaults.
The Church is dedicated to Saint Margareta and thus the parish fair is celebrated each year on July 20 which is the feast of the patron saint. Until the year 1785 the church of Eggerding belonged to the combined parish St. Florian and St. Marienkirchen. This year Eckarting received the status of an independent parish. A Rectory and a schoolhouse were erected and a graveyard was installed and enclosed by a wall in 1786.
