Saint Loup is a commune in the Charente Maritime department in the Poitou Charentes region in southwestern France. It became a commune in 1642 and comprises 21 hamlets. The area of Saint Loup are marshy. The village lies on the Bibot which empties into the Soie and the Trezence. The Trezence empties into the Boutonne and finally into the Charente River. Most of the area is devoted to cereal and other crops including corn, etc. Other products include cattle and wine.
