Sahuayo (Sahuayo Delaware Morelos) could be a town within the state of Michoacán, in western México, close to the southern shore of Lake Chapala. It is the municipal seat for the encompassing municipality of identical name. Sahuayo was a vital center for the Cristero war or “La Cristeada” and therefore the town forever has been a full of life center of commerce for the Chapala lake, specially crafts, sandals (huaraches), hats (sombreros), created by Sahuayenses.
The name means that “turtle formed pot ” it’s been known as the Athens of Michoacán as a result of its several necessary poets, writers and painters. Nowadays it’s the seat for Arts propositions Association. Town had a 2005 census population of fifty nine,316 persons, whereas the municipality had a population of sixty one,965. The realm of the municipality is 128.05 km² (49.44 sq mi).
