Detail InformationEdit
The largest medieval town square in Europe When you visit Krakόw’s City Square for the first time, it will leave you in a daze. The square was marked out at the time of the location of the city in 1257. It is the largest medieval town square in Europe and a place of admiration for many visitors to Krakόw. The charm of the place is made even greater by the beauty of the churches like the Mariacki (St Mary’s), and the tiny Święty Wojciech (St Adalbert’s), or the town hall tower and Sukiennice (the Cloth Hall), the statue of Adam Mickiewicz as well as the tenement houses and palaces along the four rows of the square. The atmosphere on the main town square is also extraordinary.
It is the living centre and the heart of the town, the meeting place for the inhabitants and tourists alike with its small cafés and little gardens, flower stalls and flocks of pigeons. The famous bugle-call that echoes every hour from the top of the taller tower of St Mary’s Basilica makes it even more magical.
