Rodeo may be a census-designated place (CDP) placed in Contra Costa County, Calif. On the shore of town Bay. The population was eight,679 at the 2010 census. The city is known as for the farm animal roundups common within the late nineteenth century. Oxen from the encircling hills were often driven down through the previous city to a dock on the bounds of town Bay for cargo to slaughterhouses, a follow that continuing through the first decades of the twentieth century. The city of Rodeo is served by the interstate eighty pike and State Route four. The Southern Pacific Railroad itinerary passes through Rodeo; but, Rodeo has not been a stop on the railroad since the Fifties.
