Rock Garden Malampuzha , maintained by the District Tourism Promotion Council, Palakkad, is the first-of-its-kind in South India. The Rock Garden was inaugurated on 7th January, 1996 in a building constructed by the District Nirmithi Kendra, Palakkad. The main Arrraction of Rock Gardens is that the entire sculptures inside it are created from waste pieces of Tiles, Granites, Stones, Electricity Fuse Carriers, Power Insulators, Broken Bangles, Melamine Dishware, etc. The garden was renovated recently and is a good time to visit now.

Rock Garden Malampuzha (Ph: 2815140), a state of the art wonder, built during 1993-95 is a must see for all tourists. The second in the country after the famous Rock Garden in Chandigarh, it was designed by the legendary Nek Chand Saini, the man behind the rock garden in Chandigarh. Though not built under the direct supervision of Indian sculptor and environmental builder, Nek Chand, it has many features similar to the artist’s original rock garden in Chandigarh. The garden is made of unwanted and broken pieces of bangles, tiles, used plastic cans, tins and other waste materials.

Taxi : Local taxis are also available at a comparatively cheap rate. However, they most often refuse to run on meter and hence the fares have to be bargained well.

BUS : The town of Palakkad is well covered with a decent bus network service. Not only are the State Run KSRTC buses frequent and cheap, but also efficiently connect all the major tourist spots of the place.
