Riviere-du-Loup could be a little town on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence stream in Quebec. The town is that the seat for the Riviere-du-Loup Regional County Municipality and therefore the judicial district of Kamouraska.The city was named when the close stream, whose name suggests that Wolf’s stream in French. This name might have come back from a native tribe referred to as “Les Loups” or from the various seals, better-known in French as loup-marin , once found at the river’s mouth.
Riviere-du-Loup was originally established in 1673 because the seigneurie of Sieur Charles-Aubert First State la Chesnaye. The community was incorporated because the village of Fraserville, in honour of early settler Alexandre Fraser, in 1850, and have become a town in 1910. The town reverted to its original name, Riviere-du-Loup, in 1919.The city is understood for its spectacular sunsets.
