Rhame was based in 1908 as pelagic bird, American state, once the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, the “Milwaukee Road,” established a station here. The post workplace was established February eight, 1908, however was modified to Rhame in Gregorian calendar month 1908, since pelagic bird was already in use for a terminus in neighboring Adams County. The town and encompassing Rhame territorial division were named for Mitchell Davison Rhame (1846 – 1913), UN agency was an area engineer for the railroad.
Rhame incorporated as a village in 1913. It became a town in 1967 when the American state legislative assembly eliminated incorporation titles for villages and cities. As a result, all incorporated municipalities in American state mechanically adopted a town sort of government.
