Renuka Mata Temple is amongst the four places of pilgrimage having the abodes of the three and a half Goddesses that are of major significance in the state of Maharashtra. The other three are Kolhapur, Tuljapur, and Saptashrungi and Mahur is half, because it is only the head of the Goddess that is visible. Mahur is the abode of the Goddess Renuka, mother of Parshuram, an incarnation of Vishnu. The place is in Kinwat about 130 km away from Nanded. It is believed that the temple has been constructed by a Yadava king of Devgiri about eight or nine hundred years ago. The temple of Renukadevi is located on a hill top. There are carved caves in the hills around Mahur. MAHUR -A pilgrim Centre of great significance. It is considered to be one of the Shaktipith of Maharashtra. The temple of Goddess Renuka Devi is situated on a hillock abounding in natural beauty at a distance of about 2.415 km. from the village of Mahur.

Mahur is situated on the Sahyadri Ranges, also known as the Western Ghats. All three important temples “Renuka Temple”, “Dattatreya Temple” and “Anusaya Temple” are built on three mountain ranges. Mahur is surrounded by jungles rich with trees and wild life. You can see the teakwood trees everywhere. Peacocks, dears, black bears, panthers are very common in the jungle.

Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.

BUS : There are many private operators that offer bus services from most of the important cities in the state to the city of Nanded. Tickets are reasonable and the semi sleeper buses are comfortable as well. Bus tickets from Pune will cost around Rs 400.

Train : Train services to the Nanded station are excellent and there are frequent trains from different places such as Aurangabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Patna, Nagpur, Delhi, Rameshwaram, Amritsar and many other places. Trains are the most comfortable way to travel and tickets are affordable as well. Ticket booking starts three months in advance of the journey date. Autos are available from the station to the city.

Air : The Nanded Airport receives three flights a week from Mumbai and two flights a week from the capital Delhi. If you are planning to arrive by air, this is a good option. Auto Rickshaws are available from the airport to the city center and this is the cheapest option to reach the place. The nearest international airport is located at Hyderabad and one can hire taxis from the airport to the city of Nanded.
