The Regional Municipality of Peel (also called Peel Region) may be a regional municipality in Southern Ontario, Canada. It consists of 3 municipalities to the west and northwest of Toronto: the cities of Brampton and Mississauga, and also the city of Caledon. The complete region is a component of the bigger provincial capital space and also the inner ring of Golden Horseshoe. The regional seat is in Brampton.
With a population of one,159,405, Peel Region is that the second-largest municipality in Ontario once provincial capital. As a result of immigration and its transportation infrastructure (with seven 400-series highways serving the region, and provincial capital Pearson International aerodrome placed completly at intervals its boundaries), Peel Region may be a rapidly-growing space with a young population And an increasing profile.
The Region of Peel was created by the govt of Bill Davis in 1974 from the previous County of Peel, and was legislated to supply community services to the (then) chop-chop urbanizing space of south Peel County (now Mississauga and Brampton).
