Redi is a small village that is located in the state of Maharashtra. The place is known for its untouched beaches and the long expanses of yellow sand filled beaches are clean and unaffected by tourism as yet. There is an interesting old Maratha Fort that is located in the village. One can walk around the fort and enjoy the scenic views of the beaches. The fort is the main center of attraction in the village of Redi. There are many temples that are located in the nearby areas as well. Some of the most visited temples are the Sri Mauli, Sri Sateria, Sri Navadurga and a few other places. Many tourists visit these temples through a day trip from nearby places. Vengurla is a town that is located nearby and one can visit the place as well. There are a few temples that are located here as well. There a few hamlets that can be seen in and around Redi Beach and the local population are generally dependent on fishing. One can hire a catamaran from the fishermen and take a trip into the sea. However these boats do not have any safety features and might not be safe for inexperienced travelers.

HistoryEdit

The Ganapati temple of Redi is located approximately 30 km from Vengurla, in the small villiage of Redi. The town in which this temple is situated contains manganese mines and the Ganpati idol was found in one of the mines near Rewati port in 1976. The Ganpati idol is in a sitting position and approximately 15 meters in height. There is a small rocky beach behind the temple.

By Air : The nearest airport is located at Dabolim and for those who are planning to arrive by air, this is the best option. The airport is connected by flights to places such as Bangalore and Mumbai. Taxis are available from the Dabolim Airport to the nearby areas and you can hire one to reach the village. They charge around Rs 7 per km and A/C taxis are also available. These are a better option during the summer season.

By Train : The closest major railhead is located at Sawantwadi and this is situated around 20 km from the station. The best option is to hire an auto rickshaw from the station and reach the village of Redi.

By Bus : MSRTC Buses are available to travel for Redi
