The museum is dedicated to the naturalist and former headmaster in Bolungarvik Steinn Emilsson. The museum was founded in 1998 and exhibits in its 300 sq mtrs main hall the tools used and minerals collected by the former headmaster. It also boasts of one of the largest collection in Iceland of stuffed birds, land and sea mammals, amongst them a polar bear. The museum store offers both souvenirs and guidebooks in connection with the natural history of the Westfjords.
