Red Hills is one of the most densely populated towns in Tamil Nadu. It is situated near Chennai. this name was derived from the red hills (Semman Kuviyal) that was mostly present in this area in early stage. This brought much fame to this place, that is central jail. The celebration for god[who?] in Padianallurs Angaala Parameshwari Temple at the month of March and April also brings great fame to this town. And also there special business is paddy and rice selling and buying.It gives a wide range of employment.These business are help to Tamil Nadu to fulfill there requirement. Iyyappan temple in Redhills is famous among Hindus and the CSI church opposite to Iyyappan temple is one of the larger church in the surrounding area. Redhills Lake is named as Puzhal lake and it is a major water reservoir for the city.

By Air : Coimbatore airport is the nearest airport to Red hills, which is nearly 100 km away from Red hills. A number of private airlines give their services to Coimbatore. Coimbatore is well connected with many south Indian cities by air including Chennai (closest metro, 350 km), Bangalore (closest metro, 227 km), Madurai and Hyderabad. Pre-paid Taxi fare from Coimbatore to Red hills is about Rs 2000.
By Train : Salem Junction (31 km) and Mettupalayam (40 km) are the nearest major railway stations. There are regular train services from Coimbatore and Chennai to Mettupalayam. Taxis are available from Mettupalayam to Red hills and fare is about Rs 1000.
By Bus : Red hills is well connected with all most all south Indian cities by bus. There are regular bus services from Bangalore (325 km) and Chennai (600 km). State owned and private vehicles ply on this route. Many tourist services providers offer package trips to Ooty from Red hills. These will charge about Rs 4 per km.
