The town of Ratlam is located in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Ratlam was once part of the princely state of Malwa. The entire district where this town is housed is known for its many industries, including ones that involve textiles and gold. A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is situated in Jhar, which lies at a distance of twelve kilometers from Ratlam. This temple is a must visit spot for pilgrims, and it was constructed in the 11th century. There are water springs in this temple that you can visit, and many sculptures are located here as well. The region also houses a Sagod Jain temple and a Hanuman temple.

Ratlam is a historical destination, originally called Ratnapuri, in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh. The place is bounded in the west by Chittaurgarh district in Rajasthan state. Ratlam district was shaped in the year of 1948 just after India’s independence. The city is popular for its historical and ancient religious monuments. A part of its historical background tells us that this place was famous for the production and trade of opium and tobacco. Ratlam literally translates to ‘City of Precious Jewels’. Ratlam is very well known for Gold, Ratlami Sev and the Ratlami Sari. The railway station of Ratlam is a major junction of the Indian Railways. There are four major railway tracks passing through Ratlam City, leading to Mumbai, Delhi, Ajmer and Khandwa. Ratlam station is believed to be one of the busiest railway stations in India.

By Air : Flights can be taken to the nearest airport, which lies in the Indore, in this case. This airport is located at a distance of 111 kilometers from Ratlam, and buses and cars will be regularly available from this airport to the town. Flights from New Delhi, Nagpur, Mumbai, Bhopal and Ahmedabad will be available to this particular airport. Fares from New Delhi to Indore will be more than Rs 3400.

By Train : Trains can be taken directly to the town of Ratlam as the town houses a railway station within its own premises. This railway station is quite well connected and has regular trains to many destinations within the country. Regular trains from Ahmedabad, Howrah, Mumbai and New Delhi are available to the railway station in Ratlam. The main trains that pass through this railway station are Golden Temple Mail, Mumbai Rajdhani, Adi Asansol Express and Garbha Express. Fares for trains from New Delhi to Ratlam will be Rs 300.

By Bus : Ratlam is well connected by road, also through a number of bus services like tourist, state, luxury and local.
